School Day

Start of the Day

At Riversdale Primary School we begin our day using a smooth start model. Children in classes from Reception to Year 6 can enter school from their designated gate, at any time between 8:35am and 8:45am.

Reception - Main Gate (Merton Road)

Year 1 & 2 - Coronation Gardens Gate

Year 3 & 4 - Black Gate (Merton Road)

Year 5 & 6 - Pirbright Road Gate

The students then independently make their way to their classrooms where their teachers are waiting to greet them. This allows children time to settle in, complete early morning activities and prepare themselves for a day of learning.

All children are expected to be in school by 8:45am, at which time our historic school bell will ring and the register will be taken.

For our Gems classes, the timings are slightly different in order to provide a calm and reassuring start to the day. Gems classes arrive at 8:30am and meet their teachers and teaching assistants at the main school gate.

End of the Day

For Gems classes the school day ends at 3pm, whilst for classes in Reception to Year 6 the school day ends at 3:15pm .

The school maintains a one-way system at pick up, whereby parents/carers may enter the school through their designated gate on Merton Road and exit through the back gates on either Pirbright Road (Gems, Reception, Year 6) or Coronation Gardens (Years 1-5). This is designed to ensure that class teachers are able to dismiss children to their parents and carers safely and efficiently.
